Dedicated to my Bride of over 40 years.

Indeed, “The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the LORD.”(Prov.18:22)

I have been blessed to know this woman since the evening of Friday, January 13th, 1978. It took me over a year to convince her to marry me. (Smart lady!) I am a blessed man for it and the world a richer place.

Happy Birthday, love. Wishing all that God wishes to give you. Thanks for loving a guy like me. This one is for you. Celebrating the journey, so far!

Well, the years that we have traveled,
Like a road beneath our feet,
At times seemed rough and bitter
And at other times, smooth and sweet.
But we’ve traveled them together
As one flesh:  woman with man
And I wouldn’t trade one minute
Of the warm touch of your hand.

As we’ve walked I've seen lights shining,
Like the stars up in the sky,
Of  your hopes and dreams and wishes
In the twinkle of your eyes.
How I’ve wanted to give you riches
And a life of rest and ease
But God has given better treasures
Than those that we could seize.

‘Cause together we’ve watched our children
Grow and leave our home.
At least we had one to give them
So they never felt alone.
And you always tried to teach them
To recognize right from wrong
And they all have learned to see life
As a blessing and a song!

Now they say its clothes that make a man
If that’s true, I’m incomplete.
‘Cause, babe, you’ve made the difference
Between victory and defeat.
And I admit it, I got distracted,
And it cut you like a knife!
But now I see I am a rich man
‘Cause my treasure is my wife!

Well, they say that life’s a journey
And we’ve had quite a view
Of times of joys and laughter,
And of pleasures, quite a few.
We’ve seen both sins and failures,
But God gave peace and grace.
And now with the shadows growing
It’s a pretty pleasant place.

Now if time should come between us
As your auburn turns to grey
And my withered hands get crippled,
God will give a better day.
For I never will be sorry
No, I never will regret
That you have filled my emptiness
From the moment that we met!

Well, the years that we have traveled,
Like a road beneath our feet,
At times seemed rough and bitter
And at other times, smooth and sweet.
But we’ve traveled them together
As one flesh:  woman with man
And I wouldn’t trade one moment
Of the warm touch of your hand.
